About Steve
I’ve always loved music but didn’t pick up an instrument until I was out of college. To scratch my musical itch before then, I was a college radio DJ playing punk rock -- mostly imports from Britain.
After graduation...
my friend Nozomu was selling his tenor sax and I thought, why not. So for two decades that’s what I played. I also lived in big cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, so between the instrument I chose and the places I lived, country music wasn’t really on my radar.
But I have a theory.
You get into country in one of two ways. One, you’re born into it. Or two, you go through a divorce. And by the time I met my future wife, I was deeply in love with country. (Also with her, I should add.)
I also wanted to tell stories, musically.
Ever try singing with a mouthpiece stuck in your piehole? Not productive. So I put down the sax and picked up an acoustic and started building songs.
I’ve played on stages across the country, I’ve released several full-up studio albums and a healthy collection of videos of new songs.
My wife and I now live in Asheville, NC.
We’re not leaving.
